Like This River

There is a woman by the river

with brown, exotic eyes

and hair to her waist.

Barely 5 feet tall,

yet her body defines

feminine shape.

Like this river,

it has unexpected turns

of exquisite grace.

Tropical Place

Your eyes are beautiful

like the stars in the sky

that are shining brightly

as you lay by my side.

And your skin is soft

like the sound of these waves

that wake us in the morning

in this tropical place.

Vulnerable

The words, 'You look beautiful.'
were not conjured up
Like some salesman's pitch.
Rather, captivated by her smooth skin,
long, dark hair,
and soft curves,
they simply flowed naturally.
Yet with this new vulnerability,
buried fears and old anxieties
came into painful contact with
sincere, pure and hopeful intentions.
